Sustainable Food Project: The Food We Eat

Location: Denver Green Public Elementary School, Denver
Background: How can we prepare students for a sustainable future? At Denver Green, we believe that one of the first steps is to learn and understand one’s role in a community. In studying and taking part in the healthy food commons, students will begin to see themselves as an integral part of a system which they depend upon. They will also recognize that they are ultimately responsible for the improvements, maintenance, and well being of the commons and the rest of their environment. This PBL unit asks student to think about the food they eat and its sources.
